As India entered a new taxation regime with GST on the midnight of June 30, a women has give birth to her baby at 12:02 am on Saturday (July 1) and as a result the couple named their baby GST to mark the launch of what is being taughted by the central government as ‘India’s biggest single tax reform to date’.
Explaining the reason behind choosing the ‘unique’ name GST for his daughter, Jagdish Prasad told ANI, “The day Prime Minister Modi announced the GST reform as a tax revolution on July 1, my daughter was born. So I could not hold my excitement and named her GST to make this day a memorable one.”
Jagdish said that he had never received such fame ever. “Only after the birth of my daughter I am being recognised in my village.”
