India is all set to get its first bullet train by 15 August 2022- when India completes its 75 years of Independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting Japanese PM Shinzo Abe launched Rs 1.10 trillion train project work on India’s first bullet train at Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Thursday i.e. September 14, 2017. Running at a top speed of 350 kilometres per hour, it will reduce the Ahmedabad-Mumbai travel time from 7-8 hours to around 2 hours. The 508-km-long rail project is expected to complete by August 15, 2022 and about 825 hectares of land would be acquired for the high-speed rail.Railway minister Piyush Goyal, Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani and his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis are present on the occasion.
