World Food Day was celebrated by the Food and Nutrition Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development Government of India today in collaboration with department of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Baranagar to create awareness among the people about the nutritious food. The theme of this year’s World Food Day-2017 was “Change the Future of Migration. Invest in Food Security and rural Development”.
Highlighting the objectives of ICDS, Shri. Nagendranath Tiwari, Dy. Technical Advisory said that the basic objectives of ICDS is to improve the nutritional and health status of children and to create awareness for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child. This scheme aims to reduce the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition and school dropout. Shri Tiwari urged the women present there to look after the normal health and nutritional needs of the child through proper nutrition and health education.
A technical session along with quiz competition were also organized to create awareness on the occasion.
Shri Jayanto Roy, Vice Chairman, Baranagar Municipality and Smt. NargisKhatoon, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Baranagar were also present on the occasion.
