The Indian Premier League is most about big hitting and more importantly, hitting sixes. A six is what brings the crowds alive and sometimes, a shot which travels many-a-milecan break the opposition and can win matchesfor the batting team.
This year,as many as 31 sixes were struck in the match between Delhi Daredevils and Gujarat Lions match, making it the most in an IPL game and joint fourth-most in a T20. Chasing a target of 209, DD hit 20 sixes, which are the most by a team batting second in a T20. The previous record of 30 sixes was set in a Chennai Super Kings-Rajasthan Royals game in 2010.
20 sixes in an innings just doesn’t reflect well on their bowling attack. But the credit must go to Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson for the way they batted.
