State Government creating communal distinction, Calcutta HC asks Mamata Banerjee

As per its observation, the court has asked can’t two communities celebrate their respective religious functions together. It asked as to when the state government are firm there is no communal harmony in the state, why is the state creating communal distinction between the two.

Earlier on 23 August, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the visarjan ceremony or durga idol immersion of this year’s durga puja will not be permitted for a 24-hour period on the day of Muharram. Banerjee ordered that there would be no idol immersion on Muharram day.
